Registration for 2022 Summer School |
1. Registration Policy:
All registration must be completed online at http://www.www.hopechineseschool.org/hcstc/Logon.aspx. Since we will not go back to Marshall High School in the summer, onsite registration service won’t be available. We are asking parents to update registration as soon as possible to secure your seats, as we limit the size of many of our classes in order to achieve a better online learning experience.
2. Tuition Payment : Tuition is due upon registration. Due to the Covid-19, we are adding PayPal as a new payment method. Families can choose either to mail a check to the School (HCS-TC, P.O. Box 9023, McLean, VA 22102) or pay by PayPal. Again, for the same reason, the School will absorb the Paypal transaction cost during the distant learning period caused by pandemic and the school will not charge a registration fee for the summer school.
The School encourages students to fully pay the tuitions after they register. If a class is full but not all students pay the tuition, the School will drop the students who fail to pay, so we can make rooms for others and to be fair to everyone.
3. Refund Policy: The School will waive regular registration fees for all students for the summer school. To be cost effective in running it, the HCSTC does NOT offer refund for the summer school; however, students can exchange to other classes of equal value within the courses offered by the summer school if they so choose for a legitimate reason. We strongly recommend parents and students consider carefully about the classes of their choice before registering them so that our volunteers will not be overworked beyond their capacities.
4. Zoom class invitation: We will NOT offer free trial class for the summer school. Zoom class invitation will only be sent to students who have registered and fully paid the tuition. It usually takes a few weeks for our registration team to process the tuition payment and apply them to the student’s account. Therefore, in order to receive the Zoom class invitation on time (the first day of summer school is 6/12), the School must receive the tuition payment by 6/05. Late payment will not guarantee students to receive the welcome email and the Zoom invitation on time.

Registration for 2022 Spring Semester |
1. Registration Policy:
All registration must be completed online at http://www.www.hopechineseschool.org/hcstc/Logon.aspx. Because we will not go back to Marshall High School in the Spring, onsite registration service won’t be available. We are asking parents to register as soon as possible to secure your seats, as we limit the size of many of our classes in order to achieve a better online learning experience.
2. Tuition Payment : Tuition is due upon registration. Due to the Covid-19, we are adding PayPal as a new payment method. Families can choose either to mail a check to the School (HCS-TC, P.O. Box 9023, McLean, VA 22102) or pay by PayPal. Again, for the same reason, the School will absorb the Paypal transaction cost during the distant learning period caused by pandemic.
The School encourages students to fully pay the tuitions after they register. If a class is full but not all students pay the tuition, the School will drop the students who do not pay, and make rooms for others.
3. Refund Policy: January 09, 2022 is the 1st day of the School. If students do not wish to continue their classes after that, they can choose to drop their classes from the registration system online and should complete the process by the end of Jan. 11. The School will refund 50% of their paid tuition and credit them back to the family accounts, however, the registration fees will not be refundable. After the Jan. 11, tuition will not be refundable. The deadline date is set to give registration team members enough time to process these requests and allow our teachers to be notified and drop these students from the original Zoom class invitation lists. However, families can change their paid classes to any other classes of equal $ value that we offer at TC campus, without any additional charge during the semester; in case they find that their originally registered classes may not fit their needs later. This is to provide the most flexibility and convenience to our TC campus community members.
4. Zoom class invitation: We will not offer free trial class in the spring semester because of the logistical burdens caused by the Covid-19. Zoom class invitation will only be sent to students who have registered and fully paid the tuition. It usually takes a few weeks for our registration team to process the tuition payment and apply them to the student’s account. Therefore, in order to receive the Zoom class invitation on time (the first day of school is 01/09), the School must receive the tuition payment by 12/29/2021. Late payment will not guarantee students to receive the welcome email and the Zoom invitation on time.
5. Textbook Sales-Ma Liping textbook (马立平中文教科书): Due to the Pandemic and social distancing requirement, the School will no longer organize a school wide Ma Liping textbooks purchase. Parents can buy MLP textbooks for the coming school year at http://www.heritagechinese.com.
6. Textbook Sales-Jinan and Bilingual Chinese Textbook(暨南 和双语“阳阳”教科书) The School will group purchase Jinan and Bilingual textbooks. The School will also organize Kindergarten and the 1st grade MLP textbook purchase at the same time. We will need volunteers to handle textbook payment and distribution before the fall semester starts. If you would like to volunteer, please email our Jinan and Bilingual textbook coordinator, Min Yao at minyao88@gmail.com .
7. Online Course Parental Consent:
In order to provide your child with the effective tools to enhance their learning, Hope Chinese School (HCS) may use online courses and applications, which would require parental permission for your child to obtain access to the internet. By registering or using such courses and applications, certain personal identifying information, including but not limited to student’s name, phone number, and email address, may be provided to the web site operators. Again by registering your child for any HCSTC classes, you agree to give your parental consent for our school to use such personal identifying information
for your child in conducting online courses, and other online applications.
By registering any classes for your child from HCSTC, you also consent to HCSTC’s collection, use, and disclosure of information about your child through the course registration process and other manual or electronic procedures of the HCSTC and course/application providers. Also understanding that your child is attending online courses and/or using online applications, and that the information collected is needed for online course registration. Your parental consent covers all types of online courses and/or applications, included but not limited to video courses and web-based courses. You also understand that your child’s image may be transmitted during video portions of the online courses and the information supplied to the course provider and HCSTC may include, but not be limited to: student’s name, phone number, and email address. Since the online courses/applications are web-based, content accessed from home or elsewhere outside the school could put the student in contact with objectionable materials via the internet. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian of the student to restrict any access to materials deemed inappropriate by the parent/guardian. Again, by registering your child for any HCSTC classes, you hereby consent that all online course content is copyright of HCSTC, any redistribution or reproduction of part or all of the contents in any form is prohibited including recording (either audio or video) and screenshot.
HCS has taken this necessary step in order to be in compliance with the federal legislation for child protection, including The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
(FERPA - https://www2.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/fpco/ferpa/index.html) (COPPA https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/media-resources/protecting-consumer-privacysecurity/
